Fire Prevention

oldfenpatch.gif

The mission of the Fenton Fire Protection District is not only to mitigate emergencies, but to also to prevent or minimize the effects of those emergencies. This mission begins before first hole is dug for a new building, before you put your car in gear, and before you see the kids off to school.

The Fire Marshal's office is a big part of that mission. They review plans and conduct inspections during construction of commercial structures to assure that fire prevention codes are being followed. For more information about whether or not you may need a permit for your project, check out our permits page.

Fenton Fire District line personnel actively participate in our fire prevention and safety mission. Fire District State Certified Fire Inspectors perform annual fire safety inspections at every business within the district. These inspections are in place to help our business owners identify issues that may contribute to an unsafe situation and to prevent damage that can have adverse effects upon their livelihood.

Permit Information

The Fenton Fire Protection District provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services for the City of Fenton, a portion of the City of Sunset Hills & portions of unincorporated St. Louis County.

Occupancy permits are required by the Fenton Fire Protection District for owners or tenants to occupy or re-occupy existing commercial space or to occupy newly constructed commercial space. St. Louis County, the City of Sunset Hills, and the City of Fenton may require an occupancy permit to be issued as well. This application is not a permit itself.

(We do not require Occupancy Change inspections for residential tenant change or homes sales)

The Fenton Fire Protection District issues permits for building construction, commercial use, blasting, bonfires, open burning, and commercial fireworks. The private use of recreational fireworks is expressly prohibited by St. Louis County ordinance and the City of Fenton. We strongly discourage the use of fireworks due to their dangerous nature.

Completed permit applications must be submitted with the required sets of drawings. Applicant will be notified when permit is ready to be picked up and paid for. No work may begin prior to permit issuance.

All questions may be directed to the fire marshal at 636-343-4188 between 8:00 and 4:30 Monday through Friday. He may be contacted via our Contacts Page.
